The Power of Beetroot

OK, so here goes .. my FIRST blog!! 2 years ago I got a website set up for my business, which I was going to use as a platform – firstly as a go to for new clients to see what I do and secondly for me to set up a blog for me to write and educate my followers, clients on things I do and recommend.

Fast forward 2 years and here is the first post!

I’ve been told it is a little like a diary entry, forgive me if I am wrong but right now I am feeling a little bit like Carrie Bradshaw!

So, yesterday I had the pleasure to present to 40 plus like minded individuals who have health and well-being at the forefront of their business’ the benefits of taking/consuming Beetroot, along side with a great friend Sarah Shaw and why I recommend it to my clients.

Beetroot you say, yes that’s right. I too had the same reaction when Synergy Worldwide, a company who’s products/supplements I use on a daily basis launched their Pro360 Beets powder. With this launch, I was curious to know more, so did some research and found that may athletes were using it in some form already as they noticed an improvement in their performance.

Why would people want to or need to consume Beetroot on a daily basis – some people don’t even like Beetroot and it stains your fingers – it’s a but like marmite you either love it or hate it.

However, the health benefits I researched certainly outweigh the con/dislike and that’s what this blog is here to inform you of and hopefully you can make up your own mind and realise that a portion of Beetroot in your daily routine will benefit you and your long term health.

So, I will keep it simple and anyone who would like to know more can message me and we can delve deeper into the science behind it all.

Beetroot is a dietary nitrate, a what? A dietary nitrate, which we get from green leafy vegetables and beets. Nitrate is needed within our body to produce Nitric Oxide which causes our blood vessels to expand and be more elasticated. As we age by the time we are 40, our body produces about half the levels of Nitric Oxide than when we were younger, which causes our blood vessels to harden and become less pliable, restricting blood flow and this can lead to cardio vascular health problems.

However, with the help of Beets, Nitric Oxide can be produced from the nitrate with the help of our oral microbiome and allows our blood vessels to expand, which leads to a number of health benefits and performance benefits due to an increased blood flow to the whole body.

1) Due to the increased elasticity of our blood vessels they are more pliable and contract and relax more efficiently helping to reduce blood pressure at rest and during activity.

2) Supports exercise efficiency, capacity & stamina – an increase in blood flow allows oxygen and nutrients to be delivered to our muscles and organs efficiently allowing them to work more efficiently, resulting in better perfomance.

3) During and post exercise the increase blood flow also allows for lactic acid to be removed, resulting in improved recovery times.

4) Improved blood flow to the brain helps to improve brain function, mental clarity and improved motor function.

Including beets in your daily nutrition gives you that natural energy kick you need in the day with out the slump a few hours later and with out the internal stresses on your body, that sugar and caffeine have (more on a later blog about that, as these too have an impact on your joint health!)

Not only though does Beetroot help improve out circulatory system but that annoying colour that stains your fingers gets it colour from a compound called Belatins – which is a phytonutrient and is a powerful antioxidant and anti inflammatory which combined with the nitrates helps reduce inflammation within the body by removing any harmful compounds from the blood stream. Therefore helping recovery from exercise and can help those with joint pain, inflammation and those with inflammatory conditions.

As you can see, Beetroots are a powerful superfood that can help your everyday health, your long term health and more.

There are a different ways you can enjoy Beetroot, depending on your taste buds I guess, however you get need to be careful as certain ways ca reduce the nutritional value of the vegetable.

1) Cooked or Raw Beetroot

2) Juicing/Beetroot Drinks – already juiced for you, however will be missing the fibre mentioned above.

3) Beetroot Powder.

I personally don’t mind the taste of Beetroot raw, pickled or roasted, yum.

The other alternative is Synergy Worldwide Pro 360 Beets powder, one scoop has the equivalent of 20lbs of organic beetroot. Their Beetroot is sourced from the high plains of the Tibetan Plateau, where it has much higher concentrations of dietary nitrates and is made with an exclusive, patented blend of polyphenol-rich, heart- healthy plants. It has been formulated by herbalists, scientists and health practitioners.

The powder contains:

· Green coffee bean - supports cardiovascular and cognitive health

· Turmeric – supports healthy cardiovascular response and immune health and is an anti-inflammatory too.

· Green Tea Leaf extract – Supports circulatory health, contributes to enhance mental and physical capacities and aids exercise recovery and reduce fatigue.

· Apple – Helps reduce oxidation and boost nitric oxide to support heart health.

· And more.

The powder can be mixed with water, mixed into smoothies or make a beetroot latte with it, it tastes great and doesn’t have the taste raw or cooked beetroot.

Synergy Worldwide has its own research centre with 34 PhD scientists and tests every single batch of ingredients before it leaves the manufacturing plant. They control their own manufacturing process and do not make supplements for anyone else and offer a 90 money back guarantee on their products.

Did you know that 85% of all supplements on the market are made from another company and not the company whose label is on the product – NOT Synergy.
